Hempel Properties broke ground on Highwood Center, a 13,105 square foot medical/office/retail development in the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Interstate 94 and White Bear Avenue in Saint Paul.
Hempel closed on the former Embers restaurant site in August and began demolition in September. Construction is scheduled for completion in March 2008. DaVita, Inc., the largest provider of dialysis in the United States, has signed a ten year lease for 5,450 square feet at Highwood Center. Bob Olson of Walsh Partners represented DaVita while Brent Jacobson and Ben Krsnak represented Hempel.
According to Tony Kuechle, vice president of development at Hempel, the site offered a rare infill development opportunity, “There aren’t many sites that can boast this proximity to downtown, this interstate visibility and these daytime populations. We’ve had strong interest in this site from the tenant perspective. It’s a great location.”
