Josh Krsnak

As President and CEO, Josh Krsnak oversees all facets of the company. Specifically, he is intimately involved with the company’s acquisitions, capital raises, and investor and lender relations.  Josh joined Hempel Companies as employee #1 and ultimately bought the firm from its founder, Jon Hempel.  During his 17 year tenure, he has overseen the purchase and development of more than $750 million in commercial real estate.  Josh was named one of the 2016 recipients of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” award. Josh is active in his community and serves on the board of advisors for Avivo (a chemical dependency nonprofit) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Prior to entering the commercial real estate development industry, Josh was a financial analyst at Honeywell and a business consultant for Accenture.

Jesse Hallstrom

Chief Financial Officer

Jesse joined Hempel in 2015 as the Chief Financial Officer. He manages and oversees the financial risks, planning, and reporting of the company. He graduated from the University of Saint Thomas (MN) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Financial Management and Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. Jesse has spent the majority of his career in public accounting at local and regional firms working primarily with real estate developers and investors on strategic planning and compliance.

Randy McKay

As Principal, Randy McKay is engaged in asset acquisition and development for Hempel. Randy joined Hempel in 2014 having previously been a principal (owner) for 23 years at Frauenshuh Companies, another national developer/investor based in Minneapolis, MN. Prior to Commercial Real Estate, Randy was a CPA with KPMG in Houston, TX and Minneapolis, MN. In more than 30 years in real estate, Randy has either developed or acquired over five million square feet of property, including major transactions with Lawson Software, Ecolab, Farm Credit Services, Minnesota Mutual (now Securian), HealthEast, Ellerbe Beckett (now AECOM), National Car Rental, BNSF, Park Nicollet/Methodist/Health Partners, Catholic Health Initiatives, Allina, Century Health, Adventist Health System and the Franciscan Health System. He was also part of the development team that developed LaSalle Plaza, a $130 million redevelopment in downtown Minneapolis and the Lawson Software Building, a $56 million re-development in downtown St. Paul. Randy is from Hibbing, MN and is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

Brent Jacobson

Brent Jacobson is an Executive Vice President at Hempel, where he is responsible for brokerage services at the firm. Brent specializes in leasing and sales in the Twin Cities Metro Area and oversees the marketing of the Hempel portfolio and representation for his clients. With more than 15 years of experience in tenant and landlord representation, Brent effectively shares his in-depth real estate expertise and market knowledge with clients. Prior to joining Hempel, Brent was responsible for more than three million square feet of real estate transactions as a Senior Associate at Colliers International. He has also occupied a role as a research director at a real estate consulting and valuation firm. Brent is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) candidate in the Minnesota – Dakotas CCIM Chapter. He’s a member of both the Minnesota and National Association of Realtors (MAR and NAR respectively) and the Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors (MNCAR).

Ben Krsnak

Executive Vice President - Brokerage Services

Ben Krsnak is an Executive Vice President at Hempel, where he is instrumental in creating property enhancement and development strategy. Ben has over 15 years of experience working on behalf of both landlords and tenants. Past landlords and clients include REITs, hedgefunds, private equity investors, and private individuals. Current clients include Artis REIT, LS Capital, and MLG Capital. Since joining Hempel, Ben has been involved in development and leasing of more than one million square feet of real estate properties throughout the Twin Cities. His portfolio includes Class A CBD office, suburban office, retail, industrial, and undeveloped land. Ben is a graduate of the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with majors in Finance and Entrepreneurship. Ben also earned his MBA from the Carlson School of Management. He is active in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC); the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA) ; the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP); and the Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors (MNCAR). Ben has completed multiple courses for his CCIM designation.

Lynne Dahl

Vice President of Asset Management

Lynne Dahl joined Hempel in 2017 as Construction Project Manager. Lynne oversees all of Hempel’s construction activities; she interacts with the executive team, leasing agents, architects, tenants, and property managers. By managing contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, Lynne ensures projects are completed on-time, within scope, according to budget, and with the highest quality. Lynne brings more than 20 years of experience to her role.  Prior to joining Hempel, Lynne was the director of site development & property solutions for an international not for profit company. She oversaw the property management staff, portfolio management, and process analysis & continuous improvement.

Kristen Oliver

Construction Project Manager

Kristen Oliver joined Hempel in 2019 with the role of Construction Project Manager. Kristen oversees Hempel’s construction and design activities as they pertain to tenant improvement projects within our Minnesota portfolio. She works most closely with Hempel’s Vice President of Asset Management; along with leasing agents, architects, tenants, contractors, and property managers. Prior to joining Hempel, Kristen was a Project Manager and Historic Preservation Specialist for a Minnesota architecture, engineering, and interiors firm, working on historic properties throughout Minnesota and greater Midwest. She has a Master’s from Pratt Institute in Historic Preservation with a Minor in Facilities Management and a Bachelor’s from the University of Minnesota in Business and Marketing Education, Mass Communication, with Minor in Design. Kristen is a member of Minnesota Commercial Real Estate Women (MNCREW) and serves on the Events Committee. She also serves as Volunteer Chair for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’s yearly fundraiser gala and is active with the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota.

Steve McKenna

Director of Accounting

Steve McKenna joined Hempel in 2018 as the Director of Accounting. He oversees accounting and financial reporting of the company. He graduated from Minnesota State (Mankato) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. Steve has spent the majority of his 18+ year career in real estate development at local and regional companies. He brings over seven years of experience dealing specifically with affordable housing and has become an expert on its rules and regulations.

Sheri Boyland

Corporate Controller

Sheri Boyland is the Corporate Controller at Hempel. She manages the property accounting system as well as the monthly financial reporting process. A crucial part of her involvement includes cash management, accounts payable and receivable, and she works closely with the executive and property management staff at Hempel. Sheri also directs the annual budgeting process, ensuring accurate and timely planning to increase the value of each property in Hempel’s portfolio. Sheri brings more than 30 years of experience to her role.  Prior to joining Hempel in 2001, Sheri was the regional financial manager for a national commercial real estate firm. She oversaw the accounting staff, budget and reporting process of a territory spanning five states.

Seamus is a leasing associate at Hempel. He graduated in 2019 from Creighton University with a degree in Finance. He specializes in landlord representation with a focus in leasing office and retail space.

Tim Krsnak

Financial Analyst

Tim Krsnak joined Hempel in 2017 as an Analyst. He works closely with Hempel’s Senior Analyst to help underwrite and analyze new acquisition and development opportunities. He graduated from the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management with a Bachelor of Science in Business with majors in Finance and Accounting and he is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to joining Hempel, Tim was an Operations Analyst at a Twin Cities-based hedge fund. Tim is currently pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst designation. 

David Bartels

Marisa Collette

Doug Donaldson

Doug is the Marketing Specialist at Hempel and is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson. He is responsible for creating and coordinating all of the marketing collateral for the leasing department. Prior to joining Hempel in 2014, Doug worked at a political consulting and public affairs firm in St. Paul. Doug is a graduate of Saint John’s University (MN).

Emily Hayden

Prior to joining Hempel, Emily supported business and event operations at a nonprofit organization.
